DJI, the market leader in hobby and professional cinematic drones has just released the first series of a new action cam called DJI Osmo Action, creating an environment of fierce competition among action cam manufacturers like GoPro. The manufacturer, DJI, promises a compact and strong camera with extraordinary image quality and stabilization, that is made for creative people, who engage in outdoor activities and extreme sports. The camera is waterproof, dust-proof and shock resistant and is able to work without a problem in cold temperatures.
Integrated in the camera one will find 2 touch displays, one in the front and one in the back, both of them in high resolution and color. The camera supports voice control with different commands, has a WiFi and Bluetooth connection and connects with any smartphone. Footage is being saved on a micro-SD card with a maximum capacity of 256GB. Resolution goes up to 4K with 60 Frames Per Second and includes a number of recording modes including 4K and 2.7K on 24, 25, 30, 48, 50 or 60 Frames per Second. Slow-Motion recording is done at 1080P with 100, 120, 200 or 240 Frames Per Second.
All that sounds like a strong competitor to the latest GoPro HERO 7 Black that has up to now been dominating the extreme sports camera market. Size, shape and functions seem to be almost identical.
